A Halloween-themed afternoon of Shakespearean drama performed by the San Diego Shakespeare Society in the museum's rotunda.
Spooky Shakespeare comes to the San Diego Museum of Art on Saturday, October 31, with the San Diego Shakespeare Society taking the stage for a Halloween-themed afternoon. It's a mix of classic Shakespearean drama and the season's eerie motifs, and the whole thing is staged in the museum's rotunda, open to audiences of all ages.
The Society's actors perform Halloween-inspired selections from William Shakespeare's works, weaving together the plays and the spooky atmosphere of the holiday. You'll hear the familiar lines "Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble" as part of the program, and the show is designed to pair the art of the stage with the museum's surroundings.
Behind the scenes, the production is led by co-directors John Tessmer and Patricia Elmore Costa, who head up the San Diego Shakespeare Society. The performances take place in the John M. and Sally B. Thornton Rotunda, located inside the museum at 1450 El Prado in Balboa Park.
