Sammy Virji

Sammy Virji plays Gallagher Square on Saturday, October 17, at Petco Park. He's a British DJ, and the night is billed as a run of UK garage, house and heavyweight sounds. The show takes place on the Sycuan Stage at Gallagher Square, Petco Park's open-air square, which has become a modern urban concert space and a premier site for touring acts within the ballpark complex.

Virji isn't the only name on the bill. He's joined by Joy (Anonymous), Baby J, Sweet Like Chocolate, and Jana Tokunaga, so the night stretches across a full lineup rather than just one set. The UK garage and house tags give you a good sense of the room: garage is built on those syncopated, skipping beats and deep basslines, and house brings the steady four-to-the-floor pulse. Between the two, you've got a night that's meant for dancing.

One thing to keep in mind before you buy: the event is strictly 18 and over, so you'll need your ID at the door. It runs from 5 PM to 11 PM, which puts the bulk of the music in the evening, and since it's an open-air space, you'll be outside for the whole thing. Tickets range from $44.70 to $61.65 plus service fees, coming out to up to $80 total.
