Premiere of the new IMAX film Wings Over Water at the Fleet Science Center, exploring bird migration across the North American heartland.
Wings Over Water premieres at the Fleet Science Center on Saturday, October 10, at 12 PM. It's a new IMAX film that follows three bird species—the Sandhill Crane, the Yellow Warbler, and the Mallard Duck—as they migrate across the wetland kingdom of the North American heartland. If you've ever wondered what that journey looks like from the birds' perspective, this is the one to see.
It's playing in the Eugene Heikoff and Marilyn Jacobs Heikoff Dome Theater, which was the world's first IMAX Dome Theater when it opened in 1973. The dome is still the center of the Fleet's programming, and it does more than just movies: it runs documentaries, educational programs, and planetarium shows. Since the theater opened, the Fleet has been the best-attended museum in San Diego and a Top 10 attraction in the city, so it's a familiar spot for a lot of us.
And there's plenty to do around the film. The Fleet has more than 100 interactive science exhibits spread across eight galleries, so you can spend the rest of your visit wandering through those. If you're bringing kids, there's Kid City for the five-and-under crowd and Studio X, where you can experiment, invent, and create. It's a full day out in Balboa Park, not just a single screening.

Tickets are $29.95 to $27.95, and the film is included with museum admission, so you get the exhibits and the movie in one go. The premiere is Saturday, October 10, at 12 PM at the Fleet Science Center, 1875 El Prado, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA 92101.
