Progressive instrumental guitarist Plini performs live on his An Unnameable Desire North American Tour, supported by Night Verses and Portraits.
Plini plays Music Box on Tuesday, October 6, as part of his An Unnameable Desire North American tour. He's an Australian progressive instrumental guitarist, composer, and producer from Sydney, and he describes his playing as music that asks listeners to close their eyes and follow the melody rather than headbang or sing along. Earlier this year he released his third full-length album, An Unnameable Desire, and this San Diego date opens the North American leg of the tour—the first night the new material is played live.
He's supported by two opening acts. Night Verses is a Fullerton prog/alt-metal/post-rock band whose 2018 instrumental album From The Gallery Of Sleep was called "The Salvador Dali of prog-metal" by Noisey/Vice. Portraits is a progressive instrumental duo. Both fit the instrumental, prog-leaning bill, so the night stays in that territory from start to finish.

It bills itself in the tradition of legendary venues like San Francisco's Fillmore. Doors open at 7 PM, and the music starts at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $32 in advance for standing and $34 on the day of the show.
