A certified farmers market with fresh produce, prepared foods, and art and craft items in the Ocean Beach neighbourhood.
The Ocean Beach Certified Farmers' Market is back on Wednesday, October 14, at the 4900 block of Newport Avenue, between Cable and Bacon Streets in Ocean Beach. It runs from 4 PM to 8 PM, rain or shine, and it's a weekly thing, so if you can't make this particular Wednesday, you'll find it there every week.
What sets this one apart is the "Certified" part. It's a Certified Farmers' Market through the California Department of Agriculture, a designation that means the produce is high-quality and fresh, and that you can actually meet the farmers and learn how your food is grown. That open-air, relaxed feel has made it the place to be on Wednesday evenings in Ocean Beach for decades.
On any given night, more than 100 vendors gather there. You'll find certified farmers with fresh produce, flowers, and plants, alongside freshly baked breads, desserts, kombucha, honey, and hot food. It's not just groceries, either—there are artisans and crafters selling art, jewelry, and clothing. Local merchants and organizations support the market, and temporary ADA parking is provided on Wednesdays at the 1800 block of Bacon Street.
