Michael Franti Trio performs the Heartstrings & Dynamite tour with The Wheeland Brothers (acoustic) at Belly Up, a reggae concert restricted to ages 21 and over.
Michael Franti Trio plays Belly Up in Solana Beach on Monday, October 26, as part of the Heartstrings & Dynamite tour. They're sharing the bill with The Wheeland Brothers, who'll be playing an acoustic set. Doors open at 7 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM.
Most of us know Michael Franti as the frontman of The Frantics, the reggae band that first put him on the map. This is a different configuration—a trio—and the tour title, Heartstrings & Dynamite, gives you a sense of the range they're working with. The Wheeland Brothers' acoustic set fits right into that more stripped-back side of things.
There's a bit more to this tour than just the music. Franti founded Do It For The Love, a nonprofit that brings live music to people facing serious illness, veterans, and children with severe challenges. One dollar from every ticket sold goes to the organization, so your night out does a little more than just get you into the room.
