Julien-K and Nite perform The Neon Chronicles II Tour at Soda Bar, a 21+ electronic rock and alternative music event.
Julien-K and Nite bring The Neon Chronicles II Tour to Soda Bar on Thursday, October 8, with The Slashes opening the bill. It's a double-bill of electronic-leaning acts, and the whole thing kicks off at 7 PM.
Julien-K is an American electronic rock band formed in 2003 by Orgy founders Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck. They've built their sound around industrial rock, synthwave, and dark electronic music, and you can trace it across albums like Death to Analog (2009), We're Here With You, and California Noir. If you're familiar with the industrial side of the early 2000s, that's where they come from, but they've spent the years since leaning into the synth-heavy, neon-lit side of things.
Nite is a Texas-based alternative band fronted by twin brothers Myles and Kyle Mendes. They mix darkwave, synthpop, and post-punk, with guitars and synths running alongside their twin vocals. Their single "All Your Pain" went viral and landed on Spotify's Dark & Gothic playlist, which gives you a good sense of where they sit: dark, melodic, and firmly in the synth-driven camp. Between them, the two acts cover a lot of the same ground—dark electronic textures, heavy on the synths—so the night should hold together.

Soda Bar is over in Normal Heights at 3615 El Cajon Blvd, and it's one of those smaller, intimate rooms where the indie scene tends to show up. The venue describes itself as San Diego's hidden gem for live music, focused on great tunes, cold drinks, and laid-back vibes. One thing to keep in mind before you head out: this is a 21+ event, so you'll need a valid ID to get in. Doors open at 7 PM.
