Fit Yoga at The Rady Shell

Fit Yoga is coming to The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park on Saturday, November 7, for a morning session that runs about an hour. It's part of the Rady Shell Community Event series, and they're billing it as a 'Bootcamp Yoga' class—the kind of session that lets your body and mind connect in one of the most beautiful settings in San Diego.

Viktoria Talbot leads the class, and she keeps it open to all levels, so you don't need to be a regular on the mat to join in. The style is vinyasa flow, which means you'll be moving through a sequence of poses linked by your breath, flowing from one to the next rather than holding each one for a long time. If you've never done vinyasa before, it's a good place to start because it's more about the movement than the stillness.

The setting is a big part of the draw here. The Rady Shell opened in the summer of 2021 as an architectural wonder on the edge of San Diego Bay in the heart of downtown, the culmination of a long civic desire for a state-of-the-art concert venue that doubles as a public center for the city. It's home to the San Diego Symphony, led by Music Director Rafael Payare, which programs everything from beloved classical works and new composers to popular music and guest artists. The seating ranges from tables close to the stage to mid-range rows and lawn seating at the top of the berm, and this yoga session takes place right in that environment.

Registration is required, and walk-ups aren't allowed because space is limited, so you'll want to sign up ahead of time. If you're bringing a dog, they're welcome on the perimeter of Jacobs Park, but not on the Shell's artificial grass. The class is free, and it starts at 9:30 AM on Saturday, November 7.
