Musical based on Roald Dahl's novel, with music by Marc Shaiman, at Casa del Prado Theatre.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opens at Casa del Prado Theatre on Friday, October 23, and runs through November 8. It's a musical based on Roald Dahl's novel, with an original score by Marc Shaiman. The story follows young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners on a tour through Willy Wonka's world of pure imagination, guided by Wonka's army of Oompa-Loompas. Along the way, the group sees the inner workings of the factory and the eccentricities of the man who runs it.
Shaiman's original score shares the stage with songs from the motion picture, so you'll recognize The Candy Man, I've Got a Golden Ticket, Oompa Loompa Song, and Pure Imagination. It's recommended for all ages, which makes it an easy one to bring the whole family to.
There are a couple of special nights to keep in mind. Friday, October 30, at 7 PM is Pajama Night, when the audience is encouraged to show up in PJsβand Halloween costumes count, too. On Saturday, November 7, there's an ASL-interpreted performance at 2 PM.
