A monthly storytelling session for children and caregivers featuring read-alouds, interactive songs and a hands-on art activity inspired by the museum's collection.
Books & Art: Storytime in the Library is back at The San Diego Museum of Art Library on Thursday, October 8, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. It's a monthly storytelling session for children and their caregivers, and it's part of the museum's 'Second Thursdays' programming.
Each month's session explores a new theme inspired by works from the Museum's permanent collection, special exhibitions, and the elements of art. The hour is built around read-alouds, interactive songs, and a hands-on art activity, all designed to help kids and their grown-ups find connections between books, art, and the world around them. Because the theme changes every month, it's the kind of thing you can come back to again and again without it feeling like the same session.
If you want to make a full morning of it, there's a related 'Storytime Family Tour' that runs earlier the same day, from 9:50 to 10:30 AM, when docents lead young learners and their caregivers through the Museum. That puts you right in the galleries before the storytelling starts in the library.
