A beginner-friendly 2.5-hour workshop led by printmaker Kasey Leung to design, carve, and hand-print fabric blocks, suitable for ages 14 and over.
San Diego Craft Collective is hosting a block printing workshop on Thursday, October 15, led by printmaker Kasey Leung. It's a 2.5-hour session where you design, carve, and hand-print your own fabric blocks, and you leave with both the finished textile and the carved block you made.
Leung is a San Diego printmaker and the owner of MOS Designs, and she runs her classes out of her own studio. Her work draws on her time surfing, climbing, and snowboarding, which comes through in hand-carved prints built from bold, flowy lines and imperfect shapes—the kind of things that feel guided by curiosity and connection rather than a strict plan. She's spent her time sharing the craft and helping others bring their own ideas to life, and that's exactly what this workshop is about: you carve your own lino block and hand-print it onto a custom tote bag or tea towel. You take home the finished piece and the block itself, so you can keep printing with it long after the class is over.
The session is part of the Collective's Mixed Media Arts Program, which brings together different media, skills, and craft techniques led by local artists and artisans, with new projects and workshops announced every month. It's open to ages 14 and up, so it works for teenagers as well as adults.
