A fall festival celebrating Black culture with R&B, hip hop, afrobeats, food, vendors and line dancing on Black-owned land.
BlacktoberFest is coming to S&S Friendly Ranch on Saturday, October 10, from 1 PM to 8 PM. It's a fall festival celebrating Black culture, and it's held on Black-owned land. The ranch itself is the city's oldest and largest Black-owned farm, tucked into the Tijuana River Valley. The whole day is put on by the creators of Kinfolk Fest, so if you've been to one of their events, you have a good idea of the energy they bring.
The music is the main draw. Live DJ sets will run throughout the day, spinning R&B, hip hop, afrobeats, and sounds from across the diaspora. Between sets, there's line dancing, spades, and dominoes, and a market featuring Black creatives and entrepreneurs. The organizers describe the vibe as the West Coast meeting HBCU homecoming energyโa mix of a family reunion and a party. It's a 21+ event, and it runs on volunteers.
