San Diego's high-energy Irish rock and Americana band return to The Harp in Ocean Beach for afternoon dancing, drinking and singing.
Ass Pocket Whiskey Fellas are back at The Harp in Ocean Beach on Sunday, October 11, from 3 PM to 6 PM. It's an afternoon set, so you can spend a few hours dancing, drinking and singing without having to stay out half the night.
If you haven't caught them before, the Fellas are a seven-piece Americana group based right here in San Diego. They blend Irish traditional, bluegrass, country and classic rock, and they play it all on acoustic instruments. The band was started in the summer of 2011 by San Diego rock veterans Jack Laux, Steve Hoshko and George Davis, who set out to bring the energy and attitude of a rock band to acoustic arrangements. Their live show is built around getting the crowd moving, and they've got the numbers to do it—seven musicians on stage rather than a small acoustic ensemble.
They've put out three albums so far, and their most recent, Third Flagon, took home Best Local Recording at the 2023 San Diego Music Awards. They also have their own station on Pandora, so you can get a feel for the sound before you head out. The Harp is one of the local spots they play regularly, along with The Blarney Stone—which they call their home base—The Belly Up and the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. They also headline local fixtures like the St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Shamrock Festival.

They have their own names for the things they do: they call their fans "FellaFans" and their gigs "FellaGigs." This one is a FellaGig in the afternoon, so you can be home by dinner. The show runs from 3 PM to 6 PM at The Harp, 4935 Newport Ave in Ocean Beach.
