Concert featuring AFI headlining with Deftones, The Neighbourhood and other acts at Petco Park.
AFI are playing Petco Park on Saturday, November 7, as part of a larger bill that puts them on the same stage as Deftones. It's a long way from the clubs they started in, and the lineup around them reflects that—it's a full day of music rather than a single headliner with a couple of openers.
Deftones lead the bill, and they're joined by The Neighbourhood, AFI, Bktherula, Converge, Jehnny Beth, Ladrones, Lip Critic, and LustSickPuppy. That's nine acts in one go, and they run across a wide stretch of sound: Deftones' heavy, atmospheric alternative metal; The Neighbourhood's moody indie pop; AFI's blend of punk and gothic rock; and Converge's metallic hardcore. Bktherula brings in the rap side of things, while Jehnny Beth, known for her work with Savages, holds her own as a solo artist. Ladrones, Lip Critic, and LustSickPuppy fill out the rest of the afternoon, so you'll be hearing everything from heavy riffs to electronic textures and indie melodies throughout the day.
With a lineup this deep, it's the kind of show where you can pick your favorite few and make a day of it, or stick around from the first act to the last. The variety is the point here—you've got punk, metal, rap, and indie all sharing the same stage on the same afternoon. If you've followed AFI since their early hardcore days or came to them later through their more melodic, gothic-leaning records, this is a chance to see them in a big outdoor setting.
