Historical street fair in the Gaslamp Quarter featuring blacksmithing, pie-eating contests, and a Kumeyaay drum circle.
The 26th Annual Fall Back Festival returns to the Gaslamp Quarter on Sunday, November 1, centered around the Davis-Horton House. It's a historical street fair that takes over the neighborhood for the day, and this year marks its twenty-sixth running.
The festival is built around old-school demonstrations and community activities. You'll find blacksmithing on display, pie-eating contests, and a Kumeyaay drum circle. It's the kind of afternoon where you can wander from one thing to the next—watching a smith work the iron, cheering on the pie eaters, and stopping to listen to the drumming—all within the same few blocks. The activities are spread across the Gaslamp Quarter, with the Davis-Horton House serving as a central point.

Because it's a street fair, it works as a drop-in: you can show up for an hour or hang out for the whole afternoon. The festival kicks off at 12 PM, and since it's free, there's no ticket to worry about. If you're planning to spend the day, the Gaslamp Quarter has plenty of spots nearby to grab food and drinks in between the demonstrations. It's a good way to spend a Sunday in the city without needing a set schedule.
