A campy, chaotic comedy spoof of the classic horror story, featuring quick costume changes, a funky soundtrack and pop-culture surprises, presented by La BĂȘte Productions.
La BĂȘte Productions is bringing Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors to the Woodlawn Pointe Community Center starting Thursday, October 15, and running through November 1. It's an adult-only spoof of the classic horror story by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen, and it's the final production of La BĂȘte's first full season, which kicked off this summer with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
The story follows a young, geeky English real estate agent who travels to Transylvania to meet a mysterious client and ends up face-to-face with Count Dracula, with a busty vampire hunter along for the ride. It's a comedy built on quick costume changes, a funky soundtrack, and pop-culture surprises. The production has a history behind it, too: it's played Off-Broadway and in London and has become a gay-cult favorite for audiences who like camp, chaos, and comedy.
La BĂȘte is leaning into that camp energy for the San Antonio staging. They're using a stage floor pulled from Studio 54 and a lighting arrangement they say will make the Bee Gees jealous, so expect a lot of flash and disco-era flair. The whole thing is described as hot, chaotic, overdramatic, and full of sexy overtones, and it's strictly for adults.
