National Geographic LIVE! presentation with marine biologist and National Geographic Explorer Dr. Erika Woolsey, exploring the beauty and fragility of the Great Barrier Reef.
Dr. Erika Woolsey brings her National Geographic LIVE! presentation to the H-E-B Performance Hall at The Tobin Center on Sunday, March 14, 2027. Woolsey is a marine biologist, divemaster, and National Geographic Explorer whose research and career have taken her to reefs all over the world. The show follows her on a series of dives to meet the most colorful residents of the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest coral reef system, and she reveals its beauty, fragility, and resilience.
But it's not all postcards. Woolsey frames the reef under attack, with more than half of its coral dead and warmer oceans bleaching vast sections. The presentation sits within the National Geographic LIVE! series at The Tobin Center, which brings the work of National Geographic explorers to audiences through immersive photography and firsthand storytelling. The whole thing is built around Woolsey's own experiences in the water, so you're hearing it from someone who's actually been down there.

The venue itself sits at the center of San Antonio's cultural scene, home to Ballet San Antonio and Opera San Antonio alongside touring concerts, plays, and galas. The H-E-B Performance Hall's acoustics are tunable to the performance, and this one is part of a larger run of National Geographic LIVE! shows coming through the center. If you've spent any time at the Tobin, you know the hall can handle everything from a full orchestra to a single voice, and this presentation leans into that immersive side of things.
