Utah Utes Women's Basketball takes on Colorado State at the Jon M. Huntsman Center on Friday, November 6, at 7 PM. It's one of the early games of the season, and it's a home game right here in Salt Lake City.
There's a lot to look at with this squad. The program is now playing in the Big 12, and head coach Gavin Petersen is leading a team that's been on a run: five straight postseason appearances and four straight 20-win seasons. This year, the roster is seeing a fair amount of turnover. There are nine newcomers, five of whom are transfers, and four returning players from last year. It's a bit of a new-look group coming into a tough conference.
Petersen has described the Huntsman Center home schedule as one of the toughest places to play in the country, and the non-conference slate includes three in-state opponents. This game against Colorado State is part of that early stretch before things shift into conference play. The team opens its 18-game Big 12 schedule on the road at Arizona State on December 21, then hosts Houston on December 30. Later, they welcome rival BYU to Salt Lake City on February 3 before traveling to Provo to take them on a second time. The 2027 Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament follows in March in Kansas City.
