Exhibition college basketball game between the Utah Utes and the Oregon Ducks at the Huntsman Center.
Utah Men's Basketball is back at the Huntsman Center on Wednesday, October 21, for an exhibition game against Oregon. It's a mid-week matchup in Salt Lake City, and because it's an exhibition, it's one of the first times you'll see the Utes in action this season before the regular schedule kicks in.
An exhibition game is a bit different from a regular-season contest. It's a chance for the coaching staff to get the rotation sorted and for the players to work through their chemistry in front of a crowd rather than behind closed doors. You'll likely see a wider variety of players get minutes than you would in a high-stakes game, and the focus is more on shaking off the rust and finding a rhythm than on the win-loss column. It's a good way to get a look at the new faces on the roster and see how the returning players are fitting together before the games that actually count toward the standings start.
Oregon is a West Coast opponent coming into the Huntsman Center, so it's a cross-regional matchup to open things off. For anyone who follows the Utes, this is one of those early opportunities to see where the team stands and get a feel for the style of play they're bringing to the court this year. If you've been waiting for the season to start, this is the first real look at the squad in a game setting.
