Holiday vocalist Stella Cole brings her warm reading of classic standards and Christmas songs to Kingsbury Hall in the Jazz at Kingsbury Hall series.
Stella Cole brings her holiday program, Christmas Dreaming, to Kingsbury Hall on Friday, December 18, at 7:30 PM. It's an evening of timeless holiday music reimagined by Cole, who builds her sound on a warm, nostalgic reading of classic standards and holiday songs. If you're familiar with Laufey or Michael Bublé, that's the territory she's working in.
Cole has a pedigree that stretches well beyond the holiday circuit. Critics have described her delivery as possessing a "rare, tactile warmth" and have named her an heir to Doris Day and Judy Garland. She's become a favorite of David Foster, James Taylor, Michael Bublé, and John Mayer, and has headlined sold-out shows worldwide, from Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center to Madison Square Garden. She's also appeared on the TODAY show. For Cole, the music is more than a performance: she describes it as a calming balm during the busiest time of the year.
The show is part of Jazz at Kingsbury Hall, a UtahPresents series now in its third year. It's a collaboration with JazzSLC founders Gordon and Connie Hanks, who have presented nearly 250 concerts by more than 500 musicians since 1994. That history runs deep in the local jazz scene, and this is one of the nights they've put together for the winter season.
