Runtastic Haunted Salt Lake City 2026

Runtastic Haunted Salt Lake City returns to Sugar House Park on Saturday, October 17, 2026. It's a Halloween party run with three distances to choose from: a half marathon, a 5K, and a kids run. The whole thing is built around a costume contest that kicks off the morning at the half marathon start line, so you'll want to have your outfit ready before you even set foot on the course.

The half marathon starts at Little Mountain Summit in Emigration Canyon and carries you 13.1 miles down through the canyon, through the Spook Alley tunnel, and past creepy creatures and an eerie graveyard, before finishing under a giant inflatable pumpkin arch at Sugar House Park. The 5K is a faster out-and-back around the park, and the kids run sends little monsters a half-mile through Spook Alley. All finishers get a light-up ghost medal, Redmond Re-Lyte, water, chocolate milk, and post-race food. The top three overall male and female finishers in each race earn free entry into next year's event. If you're chasing a fast time, the course records are 1:05:25 for the men's half marathon and 15:53 for the men's 5K.

Logistics are spread across two days. Packet pickup is Friday, October 16, from 11 AM to 7 PM at Highland High School (2166 S 1700 E, Salt Lake City), or the morning of the race for $15. If you're doing the half marathon, bus loading runs from 5:30 to 6:30 AM at Highland High School, with the costume contest starting at 7 AM. On race day, the half marathon starts at 8 AM, the 5K at 8:30 AM, and the kids run at 11 AM. Awards follow: 5K overall at 9:15 AM, half marathon overall at 10 AM, and kids run overall at 11:15 AM.
