Presentation by HawkWatch International for children and families with live raptor ambassadors to meet birds of prey and learn about raptor conservation.
HawkWatch International brings its Parade of Raptors to the Salt Lake City Public Library Marmalade Branch on Friday, November 13. It's a presentation built for kids and families, with live raptors on hand and educators there to lead the session.
The birds are the main draw. They're referred to as Raptor Ambassadors, and they'll be right there in the room with you, not behind glass or on a stage. You'll get to see them up close and take pictures with them, which is usually the part the kids look forward to most. Between the birds, the educators talk through what makes them such important tools for conservation and how to spot raptors in your own neighborhood, so you'll leave knowing a bit more about the birds of prey that fly over the city.
It's a family-friendly setup, and the session is open to all ages, so it works whether you're bringing a toddler or a whole group of kids. The focus is on getting people comfortable with these birds and understanding their role in the wild, and having the live animals there makes it a lot easier to follow than just listening to a talk.
