Thanksgiving celebration with seasonal science crafts, including painted pinecone turkeys, cranberry raft races and seed mosaics.
NHMU Family Seasonal Science: Thanksgiving is coming to the Natural History Museum of Utah on Saturday, November 21, as part of the museum's seasonal science series. It's a drop-in event held in the Naturalists' Lab, so you can swing by whenever fits your day rather than sticking to a set start time.
The whole morning and early afternoon are built around Thanksgiving-themed crafts that kids can work on at their own pace. There are painted pinecone turkeys to make, cranberry raft races to set up, and seed mosaics to put together. It's the kind of thing where you can hang out for an hour or stay for a few, and the kids can move from one project to the next without any rush. Since it's a drop-in, you don't have to worry about arriving exactly on the dot.
The Naturalists' Lab is the museum's dedicated space for this kind of hands-on activity, so it's set up for families to dive in and get messy. If you're looking for a low-pressure way to spend a Saturday morning with the kids before the holiday rush really kicks in, this is a good spot to land. It's in Salt Lake City, right there at the NHMU.
