The Glenn Miller Orchestra plays a holiday show with more than 18 holiday classics and swing standards.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra brings its holiday show to Kingsbury Hall on Sunday, December 6, at 7 PM. It's a big band on the stage — more than 18 musicians and singers — playing through a set that mixes Christmas standards with the swing hits the orchestra is known for. The presenters call it a "spectacular new holiday show" and describe the ensemble as "the world's greatest orchestra."
The holiday side of the program runs more than 18 classics, including Home for the Holidays, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, White Christmas, Jingle Bells, and I'll Be Home for Christmas. Those are the ones you've heard a thousand times, and the orchestra plays them alongside a twist on other holiday favorites. It's the kind of set that leans into the familiar, so you'll likely recognize most of what they're playing.
But it's not all Christmas. They're also working in the band's own signature hits: Chattanooga-Choo Choo, Moonlight Serenade, In the Mood, and Pennsylvania 6-5000. Those are the swing standards that define the Glenn Miller sound, and they sit right next to the holiday songs, so the night moves between the two. With over 18 musicians and singers on stage, it's a full big band sound rather than a small group.
