Family-friendly Halloween night adventure at Hogle Zoo with immersive light displays, interactive experiences, live entertainment and a nighttime train ride.
Utah's Hogle Zoo is running Hogle Halloween: A Boo Lights Experience through October 30, with the zoo transforming into a family-friendly, not-so-scary adventure after the animals settle in for the night. It's a separate, ticketed event from the zoo's daytime hours, so you'll need your own tickets to get in.
The main draw is the light displays. You wander through larger-than-life installations that glow brighter as the night goes on, and the zoo suggests eating at The Beastro first so you're ready to see them at their peak. Along the way, there's the Tale of the Mountain Screamer, Dr. Frankenstein's Mad Lab, and Spiderella to visit, and the Eccles Express runs as a nighttime train ride. Costumes are welcome and encouraged, though full-face masks, weapons or weapon-like props, and wheeled devices aren't allowed on the grounds. Most animal habitats are closed or dark during the event, and it runs rain or shine.
