Day of cultural performances, art, cuisine and interactive activities celebrating different traditions, histories and communities at the University of Utah.
The Festival of Cultures comes to the A. Ray Olpin Student Union on Monday, October 19, from 12 PM to 4 PM. It's put on by the Center for Community & Cultural Engagement at the University of Utah, and it's open to students, staff, faculty, and the general public, so you don't have to be affiliated with the school to drop in.
The day is built around celebrating different traditions, histories, and communities. That comes through in a few different ways: cultural performances, art, cuisine, and interactive activities. It's not just one thing to watch—you can move between the performances and the food, and there are activities you can actually take part in rather than just observing from the sidelines. The organizers describe it as a welcoming space for connection, dialogue, and appreciation of global cultures, which gives you a sense of the mood they're going for.
