Kids, teens and families explore coding with Cubelets and Beebots in a session by the Clark Planetarium.
Clark Planetarium is bringing a coding workshop to the Salt Lake City Public Library Marmalade Branch on Monday, December 21. It's open to kids, teens, and families, so if you've got younger ones at home and are looking for something to do during the winter break, this is a good one to keep on your radar.
The session is all about getting hands-on with coding. Instead of staring at a screen, you'll be working with Cubelets and Beebots—modular blocks and little robots that let you build and program without needing to write lines of code. It's a tactile way to see how logic and sequences actually work in the real world, and since it's geared toward families, it's as much for the adults to learn alongside the kids as it is for the kids themselves.
That's the Clark Planetarium behind it, and they're well-known around town for this kind of thing. Based downtown, the planetarium is Salt Lake City's go-to for anyone who wants to learn about space and science, with a mission to inspire curious minds by connecting people to the wonder of the universe. They've got around 10,000 square feet of free exhibit space, the Hansen Dome Theatre, and the Northrop Grumman IMAX Theatre, plus one of the best science gift stores in Utah. For a lot of people, a visit there is their first real trip into space.

This particular workshop takes that science-outreach energy and brings it to the Marmalade branch of the library, so you don't even have to head downtown to get in on it. It runs on Monday, December 21, and is open to kids, teens, and families.
