A bird demonstration featuring Ambassador Birds such as Roseate Spoonbills, American Crows, and Keas flying overhead at the Tracy Aviary.
Tracy Aviary in Liberty Park is running its Ambassador Bird Demonstration daily, with shows at 11 AM and 1:30 PM. It's one of those things that's easy to walk right past when you're visiting the aviary, but if you're already there, it's worth stopping for.
The demonstration is built around the Aviary's ambassador birdsβthe ones that don't stay in a single exhibit. The lineup includes Roseate Spoonbills, American Crows, Turkey Vultures, Kea, Ravens, and Green-winged Macaws. Between shows, these birds roam the exhibits in Roaming Encounters, so you'll likely see them out and about before they gather for the presentation. During the show, they fly overhead, and the staff talks through the Aviary's flock, giving you a better sense of who these birds are and what they're like.
If you're into the more hands-on side of things, there's also a Hornbill Painting experience. You watch southern ground hornbills paint on a custom 8x10" canvas while a member of the aviculture team shares more about them. For those who want to go even deeper, the Aviary offers behind-the-scenes experiences with the ambassador birds for an additional fee.
