Inclusive Halloween celebration for neurodivergent children and families, with trick-or-treating, a sensory room and support from Skill Builders ABA.
A Halloween for Every Brain takes over The Gateway on Saturday, October 24, from 11 AM to 7 PM. It's a Halloween celebration built for neurodivergent children and their families, put on by Skill Builders ABA. The whole thing is based on a simple flip: instead of asking neurodivergent kids to adapt to the environment, the event builds an environment that adapts to them, welcoming children and individuals of all abilities.
Families trick-or-treat together while local small businesses hand out candy, toys, and sensory surprises. The day is structured as a more controlled and supportive Halloween experience than you'll find elsewhere. There's a music and entertainment area for dancing and movement, and right alongside it, a calming sensory room for when things get to be too much. If you need them, sensory support tools like noise-cancelling headphones, weighted vests, and fidgets are on hand.
Beyond the activities, there's a layer of support for parents and caregivers. One-on-one behavior support, visual and communication aids, and free autism screeners are available throughout the day, so you can leave with some peace of mind. It's a space where the sensory needs of the kids come first, rather than being something to work around.
