Jazz-fusion bassist Thundercat performs live on his 'Distracted AF Tour', with support from TiaCorine, at The Ritz in Raleigh.
Thundercat plays The Ritz on Wednesday, October 14, as part of his Distracted AF Tour. He's bringing TiaCorine along to open the night, so the bill starts well before he takes the stage.
The show is built around Distracted, his fifth studio album. He took its title from the clutter of modern life—social media, surveillance, and the endless stream of updates that keep most of us feeling a bit scattered. It's his first record in six years, arriving after 2020's It Is What It Is, an album shaped by grief, romantic heartbreak, and the sudden loss of his friend and collaborator Mac Miller. Thundercat doesn't frame Distracted as a sharp left turn from that period, though; he sees it as a continuation, using humor to laugh through the pain as life keeps happening whether you're ready for it or not.
That's the through-line you'll hear across the set: the same bass-heavy, melodic approach he's known for, but with the new material leading the way. Between the new songs and the older ones, the night should give you a good sense of where he's been and where he's headed. TiaCorine opens, and Thundercat headlines.
