Concert by Syd performing tracks from his album 'Beard' at The Ritz in Raleigh.
Syd brings the Beard Tour to The Ritz on Sunday, November 29, with the show starting at 7 PM. It's a single-bill night, so the whole set belongs to him.
The tour is built around his new album, Beard, which Syd describes as a coming-of-age record and a snapshot of his life right now. The title comes from the peach fuzz on his upper lip—something he says society taught him to hate, but that he eventually fell in love with. He explains that the shift made him rethink everything he'd been told should make him feel insecure, and that in turn let him take his confidence into his own hands. That's the kind of personal, self-reckoning territory the album works through, and it's what he's taking on the road.

If you've followed his work, you know he tends to write from the inside out, and Beard fits right into that. It's a record about growing into yourself, and the tour is the live version of that. The Ritz is in Midtown Raleigh, at 2820 Industrial Drive, and tickets start at $57. The show is on a Sunday night, so you've got the rest of the weekend to get your head in the right space before the music starts at 7 PM.
