A sustainability workshop where participants create Halloween costumes using recycled materials, open to the Wolfpack community.
Spooky Stitches is happening at the Witherspoon Student Center on Monday, October 12, from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. It's a sustainability workshop where you make your own Halloween costume out of recycled materials, so it's a way to get your holiday outfit sorted without buying something new that'll end up in a landfill by November.
The session is run by the University Sustainability Office's Sustainability Stewards, the student group that handles a lot of the green initiatives around campus. They're the ones leading the workshop, and they've got all the supplies covered, so you don't need to bring anything with youโjust show up and start building. The whole thing is open to the Wolfpack community, so it's not just for students; anyone tied to the NC State community is welcome to drop in.
If you're already thinking about what you're going to be for Halloween, this is a good place to figure it out. Since you're working with recycled materials, the costume you end up with will be something you actually made yourself rather than something off a rack. It's a low-stakes way to spend a Monday afternoon, and you walk away with a finished costume in hand.
