A 60-minute feel-good musical comedy based on the 1992 film, with music by Alan Menken, presented by Dancing Man Productions.
Sister Act Sr. opens at the Raleigh Little Theatre on Thursday, April 29, and runs through Sunday, May 2, 2027. It's a 60-minute musical comedy based on the 1992 film, and it's being put on by Dancing Man Productions, a Raleigh-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization. If you've seen the movie, you know the general setup: a nun and a disco singer crossing paths in a convent, with a choir of nuns getting a makeover along the way.
The music is original and comes from Alan Menken, who's worked on Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, and Little Shop of Horrors. The lyrics are by Tony and Grammy nominee Glenn Slater, known for The Little Mermaid and Leap of Faith, and the book is by Cheri Steinkellner, who wrote Hello! My Baby, and Bill Steinkellner. It's a shorter version of the story, so the whole thing fits into an hour.
