Room 861 at Goodnights: Invasion of The Body Snatchers

Room 861 at Goodnights is hosting Invasion of The Body Snatchers on Thursday, October 15, at 8 PM. It's a Halloween-themed comedy show where local comedians perform as famous comedy legends, live or dead. The title is a nod to the 1956 sci-fi classic, and the premise fits the season: local comics stepping into the shoes of the greats.

If you've been to Goodnights Comedy Club before, you know the room. It's located in Raleigh's Village District at 401 Woodburn Rd., and it's built its reputation on bringing stadium-sized talent to an intimate space. Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Chris Rock, Dennis Miller, Drew Carey, Ray Romano, Kevin James, Ellen DeGeneres, and Robin Williams have all graced its stage. The venue was upgraded in the summer of 2023 and now works as a contemporary entertainment space with multiple meeting rooms and a showroom capacity of 260.

Shows here typically run about an hour and forty minutes and follow a classic three-act structure: an opener, a feature, and a headliner. It's a non-smoking room that serves food and craft beers, so you can eat and drink throughout the night. Invasion of The Body Snatchers takes that same format and puts a twist on it, with local comics taking on the personas of comedy legends instead of performing their own sets.

The show is on Thursday, October 15, at 8 PM at Room 861 in Goodnights Comedy Club, 401 Woodburn Rd., Raleigh, NC 27005.
