Exhibition of paintings and linocuts by Will South at Gallery C in Downtown Raleigh.
Will South is showing Quiet Company at Gallery C in downtown Raleigh throughout October. The exhibition runs from October 1 to October 31, with the gallery open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 AM to 5 PM.
It's a wide-ranging show. You'll find paintings, drawings, linocuts, and wry cartoon sketches, with portraits and figurative drawings at the center. South describes his approach to image-making as an ongoing act of attention: to the human figure, to the small observed moment, and to the discipline of a single line. Across those different mediums, the work comes from a hand trained by decades of looking closely at other artists' work, filtered through a sensibility that's direct, unsentimental, and quietly humane.
