A 50-minute guided walk through the People's Collection, the museum's permanent exhibition spanning over 5,000 years of art and culture, led by volunteer docents.
The North Carolina Museum of Art is hosting a Public Tour in the West Building on Thursday, Oct 15, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. It's a 50-minute walk through the People's Collection, the museum's permanent exhibition that spans more than 5,000 years of art and culture and stays on constant rotation. Volunteer docents lead the tours, and since the collection changes, no two are the same: one might wander through several galleries, another might focus on a handful of artists, and a third might dive into the fundamentals and elements of art. They're designed as an entry point for first-time visitors, a post-lunch activity after the NCMA Café, or just for anyone curious about what the museum holds.
All ages are welcome, so it works as a family outing as much as a solo afternoon. If you're looking for more, the museum also offers family-friendly tours of the Museum Park, thematic guided walks through the Park, and self-guided options via the NCMA Park App. For those who prefer it in another language, tours in Spanish, French, Mandarin, Portuguese, Korean, and American Sign Language are available upon request.
