A playful mathematics exploration programme for children and families where participants build curious creations together while exploring culture and nature through mathematics.
Math Makers returns to Gipson Play Plaza on Wednesday, October 21, from 4 PM to 6 PM. It's a playful math exploration for children and families, and the whole point is that you don't just watch—you build. Participants work together to make curious creations while exploring culture and nature through mathematics, and you get to take a math kit home to keep the exploration going after the session ends.
Two organizations are behind it: Natural Math and the NC Network of Math Teachers' Circles. They're the ones running the sessions, so you'll have people on hand who know their way around the subject and can help guide the building and the thinking. It's designed as a family activity, so it works whether you're coming with kids or bringing the whole crew along.

The session is free to the public, thanks to Dix Park Conservancy donors. You do need to register, though, and space is limited, so it's not a walk-in kind of thing. Registration opens two weeks in advance at 12 PM, which is when you'll want to grab your spot. The plaza is at 715 Biggs Drive in Raleigh, and the session runs from 4 PM to 6 PM.
