A hilarious musical comedy on Bram Stoker's classic, with wit, costume changes and twists, part of Theatre Raleigh's 2026 Main Stage Season.
Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors opens at the De Ann S. Jones Theatre on Wednesday, October 21, and runs through November 8. It's a musical comedy based on Bram Stoker's Dracula, written by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen, and it's part of Theatre Raleigh's 2026 Main Stage Season.
If you know the original story, you know the basics: the Count, the castle, the blood, and the struggle to keep the undead from taking over. This version takes all that and turns it into a comedy. Greenberg and Rosen have given the classic a ridiculous makeover, trading the gothic dread for wit and fast-paced humor. It's a musical, so you'll get songs along with the dialogue, and the production is built around quick costume changes and twists that keep the plot moving. The show is described as a madcap romp through the world of the undead where nothing is sacred and everything is up for laughs.
Because it's part of a full season, there are plenty of options for when to catch it. The run goes from Wednesday, October 21, through Sunday, November 8. On weekdays, the curtain goes up at 7:30 PM Wednesday through Friday. Saturdays have two showtimes, a 2 PM matinee and a 7:30 PM evening performance, and Sundays have a 2 PM matinee. That gives you a choice between a weekday night out or a weekend afternoon, depending on what fits your schedule.
