Tony Award-winning musical about the true story of Gander, Newfoundland, welcoming stranded travelers after 9/11, presented by Raleigh Little Theatre.
Come From Away opens at the Cantey V. Sutton Theatre on June 4, 2027, running through June 27. It's the final show of Raleigh Little Theatre's 2026-2027 season, which marks the company's 90th year.
The musical is based on a true story from Gander, Newfoundland. On September 11, 2001, the town opened its homes and hearts to nearly 7,000 passengers whose 38 planes were grounded there, nearly doubling the town's population overnight. It's a Tony Award-winning show with a book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and it's built around that one moment when a small town took in thousands of strangers.
It's a piece of theatre that balances soaring music with humor and humanity, and it's as much about the kindness that can come out of a tragedy as it is about the event itself. The runtime is about an hour and 45 minutes with no intermission, so you're in and out in one go.
