A string quartet performs medleys of 90s hip-hop classics under candlelight at the historic Rialto Theatre.
Candlelight: 90s Hip-Hop on Strings comes to The Rialto on Friday, November 13, with a string quartet playing medleys of 90s hip-hop classics. The set draws from The Fugees, Lauryn Hill, OutKast, Missy Elliott, Nas, Jay-Z, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang Clan, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G. and Dr. Dre. It's a tribute experience, not affiliated with the artists or their estates.
Candlelight concerts are built around a specific format: a live musical performance in a notable space, played under the glow of candlelight. The Rialto Theatre, in Raleigh's Five Points neighborhood, is a historic 426-capacity room that opened in 1942 after a previous life as an A&P grocery store. It's still known for independent films, live music and community events.
