A beginner-friendly urban bird walk that introduces participants to the resident and migrant birds of Dix Park, led by instructor Bella Insignares.
Bird Watching is back at the Stone Houses Visitor Center at Dix Park on Saturday, October 17, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. It's a beginner-friendly urban bird walk led by Bella Insignares, designed to introduce you to the resident and migrant birds that hang around the park and sharpen your identification skills by sight and by ear. Sparrows, woodpeckers, and hawks are among the targets, and spring migration is on the horizon.
There's a bit more to this than just a morning stroll. The walk feeds real science: volunteers monitor how bird diversity changes in the park from month to month, so your time out there contributes to a larger picture of what's moving through the area. The whole session is outdoors, and if you don't have your own gear, there are fifteen pairs of sanitized binoculars available on a first-come, first-served basis.
