A bite-size tour experience at the North Carolina Museum of Art where a docent guides visitors through about three works of art for 30 minutes.
Art on the Dot is back at the NCMA West Building on Sunday, Oct 18, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. It's the North Carolina Museum of Art's bite-size tour experience, which first launched in August 2025. The format is straightforward: a docent invites you to engage with about three works of art over half an hour. It's a small slice of the museum rather than a full-day trek through the galleries, so it works well if you're short on time or just want to focus on a few specific pieces.
Three such rounds run each afternoon, with a 15-minute break between them. Because the docents choose their own selections, the works change from one round to the next. If you have the time, you're encouraged to come back for a second or third session and see which pieces the next docent picks. It's a good way to see different parts of the collection in a single afternoon without having to map out the whole building yourself.
