A beginner-friendly workshop where participants learn to use a tufting gun to create their own custom-designed tufted mirror.
Tiger Lily Tufts is running a tufting workshop at Hotwalls Studios in Old Portsmouth on Sunday 9 August, where you'll learn to use a tufting gun and make your own tufted mirror. It's a beginner-friendly session, so you don't need any prior experience to get stuck in.
The workshop centres on the cut-pile tufting gun, the tool that does the heavy lifting of punching yarn through fabric to create that plush, carpet-like texture. You'll be working on a 40x40cm workspace, and the whole point is to bring your own design to life rather than following a set pattern, so you can decide what your mirror looks like from the start.
Sessions run for three hours, and they're kept small, with no more than four people per class. That small group size is why it works for all abilities, including complete beginners who've never touched a tufting gun before. You'll have plenty of one-on-one guidance as you go, so you're not left figuring it out on your own.
