Learn to craft beautiful, bespoke earrings in a special workshop at the historic Hotwalls Studios, guided by experienced artist Libbie Coulson.
26th of May are running a polymer clay earring workshop at Hotwalls Studios on Saturday 8 August, with experienced artist Libbie Coulson leading the session. It's held in Studio 8, right in the heart of the studios in Old Portsmouth, so you'll be working alongside other artists while you make your own.
The workshop focuses on a faux stone or marbled effect mini clay slab technique. You pick your own colours and shape, and Coulson guides you through the process of working the clay into that textured, stone-like look. Once the clay is in the oven baking midway through the session, there's a bit of a break — you can relax with a coffee or wander around the other studios and see what else is going on. When the clay is set, you sand it down and assemble the earrings with silver or 18k gold-plated ball posts or hoops, and you leave with a pair of bespoke dangly earrings you made yourself.
It's a proper hands-on one, so you're not just watching someone else do it. You choose the colours and the shape, and you do the sanding and assembling yourself, meaning the pair you take home is something you've actually crafted from start to finish. If you've never worked with polymer clay before, that's fine — Coulson is there to walk you through it.
