Polymer Clay Earring Workshop

Libbie Coulson is running a polymer clay earring workshop at Hotwalls Studios in Old Portsmouth, with the first session on Saturday 11 July. It's a two-and-a-half-hour class, and if that date doesn't suit, there are three more to choose from throughout the summer: 25 July, 8 August and 29 August.

The session is all about making a pair of bespoke dangly earrings using a faux stone or marbled effect. You'll start by working with the clay to create a mini slab, and while that bakes in the oven, there's a mid-session break to stretch your legs, grab a coffee, or wander around the studios. Once the clay is out and cooled, you'll sand the pieces down and assemble them using either silver or 18k gold-plated ball posts or hoops, so you walk away with a finished pair of earrings you've made yourself.

It's held at Hotwalls Studios, 8 Broad Street, right by the sea in Old Portsmouth. It's a creative hub, so you'll be working around other artists rather than in a quiet room, which adds to the feel of the place. The whole thing is led by Libbie Coulson, an experienced artist who'll guide you through the process from start to finish, so you don't need to have worked with clay before to get stuck in.

Each workshop costs £45, and you'll leave with a handmade gift or a new addition to your own collection. With four dates running through August, you can pick the one that fits your summer best.
