A building event hosted by the Solent Meccano Club, with an emphasis on young children building with Junior Meccano, alongside displays of traditional metal Meccano models.
Meccano Day comes to Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery on Wednesday 19 August. Hosted by the Solent Meccano Club from 11:00 to 15:00, the event places a special emphasis on young children being able to build their own models with Junior (plastic) Meccano, with a large quantity provided.
In addition to the hands-on building for children, club members will display a variety of models made with traditional metal Meccano. These displays will range from substantial models requiring a considerable quantity of Meccano to smaller models built from sets currently or recently available on the high street. The Solent Meccano Club will be there to talk you through the hobby, answer questions, and give you some pointers.
Whether you're a seasoned builder or a first-timer, there's something to see and do. It's a great opportunity for kids to get stuck in and make things, while everyone can admire the impressive metal constructions on display.
