A fun, accessible activity for all the family to try kayaking or paddleboarding with friendly instructors at the Andrew Simpson Centre.
ASC Portsmouth is running kayak and paddleboard taster sessions at the Andrew Simpson Centre on Tuesday 11 August, and they're open to the whole family. The sessions are led by the centre's instructors, who walk you through the basics so you feel comfortable on the craft, get your paddling efficient, and can actually spend your time enjoying being out on the water rather than fighting with the gear. No previous experience is needed, so it works as a first go if you've never been on a board or in a kayak before.
The centre sits right on the shores of Langstone Harbour, and it belongs to the Andrew Simpson Foundation, which was set up in 2014 and inspired by Olympic gold and silver medallist Andrew 'Bart' Simpson MBE. The foundation's mission is to transform lives through sailing, driven by the belief that all young people can excel and succeed in life and work, with the challenges of sailing and watersports promoting health and wellbeing while building essential life skills. These taster sessions sit within that wider focus on getting people onto the water.
