General Jewellery Workshop

Hotwalls Studios are running a general jewellery workshop in Studio 5 on Friday 30 October and Friday 27 November, both from 10:00 to 16:00. It's a full day of making in their Old Portsmouth studio, and the two dates are separate sessions rather than a course you have to do in order.

The whole thing is led by Rachael Plassard, who's been teaching jewellery with Craft Courses since 2026. It's open to all levels, from complete beginners to people who've already got some experience, and it works on a one-to-one basis: the group is limited to four people, so there's plenty of individual guidance throughout the day. Before you start, Rachael goes over everyone's plans, advises on what's achievable and what materials to bring, and suggests projects based on your level and the skills you want to pick up. From there, you work on a jewellery project of your choice in a well-equipped studio, guided through the core techniques: sawing, filing, soldering, forming and finishing.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided, and you can book a single session to finish a piece on the day or come back for multiple workshops to build your skills more gradually. Materials aren't included, so you'll need to buy yours in advance or on the day.
