Drum and Bass on The Bike returns to Clarence Pier on Sunday 27 September, with DJ Dom Whiting back on the decks for his second year in Portsmouth. It's a mobile rave that blends drum and bass with cycling, and it's exactly what it sounds like: a ride through the city with a soundtrack running alongside it.

Whiting started the whole thing during the pandemic, describing it as a way to rediscover human connection through music and cycling. It made its Portsmouth debut last September and drew a substantial crowd of cyclists, many of whom turned up with their own speakers to join in. That turnout convinced him that the city couldn't be skipped in 2026, and he's said he wants to make this return bigger than the first.

One of the best bits is how it works. You don't have to rely on a single sound system; if you bring your own speaker, you can hook up to the event's online livestream and ride with the music playing right next to you. It's not just for cyclists, either — Whiting has made it clear that anyone and any mode of transport are welcome, so you can join in however you get around.
