A fun and friendly weekly singing workshop for the over 55s, designed to improve wellbeing and energy through singing.
55+ Singing Workshop: Recharge runs every Wednesday at Portsmouth Guildhall, a weekly singing group for the over 55s. It's part of the Guildhall's 'Get Involved' programme, which is run by the venue as a charity working to bring arts and music to the local community.

The session is described as fun and friendly, and there's a clear focus on the physical side of things: the organisers point out that singing exercises your heart and lungs and makes you feel great, with the aim of leaving you feeling uplifted and energised. It's not about polishing a performance, either. There are no auditions, and you don't need to be able to read music to take part, so it's open to anyone over 55 regardless of their experience.
The afternoon starts with refreshments at 15:00, followed by the singing session from 16:00 to 17:00. It costs £3 a week, which includes tea and biscuits, so you've got a bit of a social hour before the singing actually kicks off. To join in, you just need to email cherry.lambert@portsmouthguildhall.org.uk.
